I often receive the message "Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX
controls and plug-ins to run?" when I do one of the following:

While using WINDOWS Explorer (not IE) and I switch between folders

Launch an application like "Norton Password Manager"

Any help or insight into the problem is greatly appreciated.

SP2 set that up. You can turn it off if you like.

To disable the SP2 warning for running activeX on a local computer page, go
to : IE, Tools menu, Options, Advanced Tab, -- scroll down to the Security
area, check the box for, "Allow active content to run in files on My
Computer"

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I did try this and it does not fix my problem. I
even uninstalled (or more accurately unconfigured) Internet Explorer,
performed an "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" to verify all files and then reapplied WinXP
SP2 and still experience the same problem. I also reviewed a HijackThis
report and think it looks pretty clean.

At present, I am on WinXP Professional with SP2 applied and all critical
hotfixes applied as directed by Windows Update.
