IE 8 Slow to run on m XP Home Edition System

Has anyone else experienced IE 8 slow to load on XP? I installed it on my
system Friday night and my system was totally up to date with all patches
and after the install I noted that IE 8 was taking several seconds to launch
from my desktop. I'd click the IE icon and nothing.... which was far
different than what I experienced with IE 7 which would immediately open on
my desktop. Once IE 8 did load it it was also taking a few seconds to load
my home page which happens to be microsoft.com. I thought perhaps that my
problem might have been memory related or a post-install defrag issue but I
added a GIG of much needed memory and defagged my hard drive with the latest
version of Perfect disk but nothing helped so I opted to deinstall IE 8 and
return to IE 7 and my system once again behaves well. Anybody else having
this issue?

Thanks for pointing me to the right place. I had looked for a suitable site
prior to posting my question here and for some reason didn't come up with
anything.

Just any FYI for anyone that may read this post, the solution to the problem
can be found on the other newsgroup if you dig around a bit.
