1. I have IE 6 on my desktop. When I want to use it to get on the web nine
times out of ten after I click there will be numerous moments then a quick
white flick across the screen and then nothing. Click again and same thing.
Thirty minutes later still no access to the Web. What is wrong and how do I
fix it.
2. I am trying to configure Outlook Express for a couple of News Groups that
can be beneficial to me, this group and one for IE 6. Can not seem to
accomplish this. How do I do it?

Start Outlook Express, and use the menu command Tools|Accounts. Click on the
Add button in the Internet Accounts window, then on the News option. In the
first part of the Internet Connection Wizard window, enter your name, and
click on the Next button. Repeat for the email address part of the connection
wizard. In the Internet News Server Name part of the wizard, enter
msnews.microsoft.com (or the address of your other news server) in the News
(NNTP) server field, and ensure that the My news server requires me to log in
checkbox is unchecked. In the next part of the connection wizard, enter a
friendly name for this account (e.g. Microsoft News). In the last part of the
wizard, choose an appropriate connection type - phone line if you connect to
the Internet via a modem, or local area network (LAN) if your computer is on
the network.

After clicking on the Finish button in the last part of the wizard, Outlook
Express will connect to the Microsoft news server and download a list of
available newsgroups. Subscribe to the newsgroups you are interested in.

As for your IE 6 issue we need to know if you are running any firewall or
anti virus protection softeware. I would recomend you start with closeing
down any softeware that fits those guidlines and t hen checking to see if you
still encounter that problem. You can also try clearing out your cookies and
cache.

Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one?

Copy/paste the following links into an IE Addressbar and click GO. The
newsgroups will open in your default newsreader, which we'll assume if OE:

I wasn't able to copy/paste back into this reply. My reply screen does not
have a tool bar from which to make choices. But the page on the Java script
site just had
;SP2;
whatever that means. Does that say anything to you?

It tells me you're running WinXP SP2.

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Show updates (check) > Windows XP
