IE 6 won't work with DSL

I just got DSL service, however, it won't work with my
IE6. DSL provider tech. informs me that it is a browser
problem after hours of diagnostics. checked protocols
and settings ect.: appear to be appropriate. IE6 was
uninstalled and re-loaded to no avail. enabled folder veiw
for FTP, and internet LAN sttings, adapters, and protocols
are as per DSL tech. direction. NO HELP. The symtoms are:

A few sites load fine
Some sites load very sluggishly or not at all
most attempts to access sites end with error after long
wait.

Any ideas?

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

What are the error message(s).

Remove parasites.

so did you try a different browser? try mozilla it is a quick download. It
may be a setting problem more than browser if you have not tried more than
one browser!
