I have the following issue with Firefox as default browser:

whenever I type in a URL in IE in the address bar, the typed in url
opens in Firefox.

I tried restoring IE as a default browser, doesn't work.
I tried modifying settings in Folder Options, did not work.

Any ideas?

You ran into the mega issue with the latest updates Microsoft pushed to you
via Microsoft Update. Internet Explorer opens up a second window for each
link. It opens up the default browser - which in your case is Firefox.

I have the same problem however uninstalling the MS patches did not help.

That's it. OMG! There was an update couple days ago.

Thanks for your help. I will try uninstalling the patch.
