My IE6 quits upon launching a new window containing streaming video from
launch.yahoo.com
It started doing this after I downloaded Windows XP SP2. It closes all IE
windows and reports and unknown error. Can anyone please help? I've been
looking for answers for days now and nothing has helped.

I also would like to know why this happens, I cannot open any type of video
or wave file without it shutting down my IE 6. Please someone HELP!

i stumbled upon the solution last month. i'm deducting from the process
which resolved both IE6 and firefox unexpectedly quitting upon loading
streaming
media that the issue was caused by conflicts with various codecs.

The Solution:
Download ACE Mega Codecs Pack.
It is the ultimate in codec utilities. It has pretty much every codec you
need to view a plethora of audio and video formats.
This is the site from which I got it:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm

After downloading(49.2mb), open file which will prompt installation. It will
search your program files for all your codecs and ask permission to uninstall
them. Just make sure you read the installation docs and procedures, as my
software environment may be different from yours.
(BTW. typical or minimal installation is sufficient)

When you're done with the install, (i'm not too certain if it reboots) you
will be able to finally enjoy streaming media from launch and similar sites.
Hope it works for you.
