IE 6 opens then freezes

When I click on the IE 6 icon on the desk top, everthing
opens like normal. Once the home page loads in it
freezes, after a minute when I check the program manager
it tells me that IE is not responding. I am able to work
around this by opening Windows Explorer and typing in a
URL in the address bar. I have run a virus scan and
nothing has been detected. The only other thing I can
think is I installed a new printer a couple of weeks ago.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
