IE6 automatically loads when Win XP starts. IE is not in
the Start Programs folder. How do I stop IE from
launching at system startup?

It's likely that you have a program set to to start automatically at boot.
Since IE6 is your default browser, this is what you see.

Go to start/Run, type: msconfig and press OK. Click the Start Up tab to
see which programs are set to start at boot. It could be a program that is
checking for updates or it could be spyware.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks, Ron. The only item I don't recognize
is "mediaman.exe" in a Program Files folder
called "ebkrdr". Do you recognize this name? I'm
running a selective startup to prevent this from loading,
and to prevent IE from loading, at startup. I'd like to
change (or delete) the registry key that initiates the IE
startup after tracking down what may have caused it to
appear in the registry in the first place...
