IE 6 & IM Progs Close On Key Press

I'm running an up-to-date Windows XP Professional X64 system with IE
completely up-to-date. The 64-bit version works fine for all users.
However, there is one user on my machine that cannot use 32-bit IE or any
instant messaging applications. Whenever she presses a key, the window
closes completely. I've used Ad-Aware SE, Spybot S&D, and Microsoft's
Antispyware applications and none have resolved this issue. I've also done a
full virus scan and failed to locate the problem.

I've read similar problems but nothing exactly the same. I've seen
everything from CTHelper for Creative cards causing conflicts with plug-ins
to "your machine has been hijacked." I would like to repair this problem
without removing and reinstalling, is anyone familiar with this?

Hi Anthony

Try disabling IE plugins to test if they may be a cause. From
Start>Settings>Control Panel select Internet Options. You will find the
option to 'Disable third-party browser extensions' on the Advanced
tab.(Since you can't launch it from IE)

I don't have a 64-bit machine, so I am only guessing but it sounds to me
like not all the files for Internet Explorer have been registered properly.
You may try repairing IE. See the following.
