IE 6 HELP

My comp came with IE6 but lately when for example I try
to read my hotmail I get a message saying that my current
software will limit my ability to use hotmail. It also
says I am using a web browser that hotmail doesnt
support. I get reccomended to update my software and
download IE6. HOwever if I try to download I get message
saying I already have IE6. IF I try and add security
updates it says I dont have IE6. Does anyone have any
idea what is wrong?

Reduce the security level, if issue persists
Repair IE using following:
