PLeaseeee Help. Driving me crazy. Ok so I had one user who ie was hanging.
Basically when they open a window then close it, the window closes but still
is in the task bar. In task manager it says it is running. When you click on
the task bar the window opens up white. Then the only way to close is by
hitting end now or end process in TM. So I googled and searched and find a
whole bunch of different ideas, tried most and none worked. I tried repairing
ie 6 no luck. Btw there are no viruses or spyware. So i said screw it and
reinstalled the whole OS. Ha while i was reinstalling I gave this user a
laptop to use and the same thing started happening. When i logged in it was
fine but when he logged in it happened again. He does not have a roaming
profile either. This started happeing to another user as well. So when I
reinstalled the system it seemed to be fine for about a day, then it started
up again. So now I have 2 users with the same exact problem. I finally came
across what i thought was a fix. I logged in as myself and went into
registry. localmachine user>microsoft>windows>internet explorer. I exported
IE and saved to the c drive. logged in as the user with the problem and went
to registry and deleted the reg key then ran the original i exported while i
was logged in. Seemed to be workign fine. Hour later bamm!!!! same thing. So
i realized i had error reporting off. turned it on sent error, followed the
link to online crash analysis where there was a fix. I thought this was it
folks. Nope nada nuttin. Ran the fix and the same dang thing. anyone have any
ideas, clues anything. Please help. I have them both on firefox in the
meantime.

Is this XP service pack 2? Are all the machines involved the same machine
type?

The good news is at least the process is ending task. Go through the system
and check all drivers for updates from the manufacturer.

If its happening on mulitple pc's of different configurations, is it also
happening to different browsers, such as firefox. Speculation may be that
you have a dns problem, which the first thing to try there is point dns
directly to an isp provider or flushing your dns cache.

Hi thanks for reply.
The 2 users have identical machines, but like i said before when i had the
one user on the laptop while i reinstalled he was getting the same problem. I
just thought it might have been some updates cause it looked like the Jview
update was the most recent but removing didnt change anything. How would i
clean out the dns cache? SOunds like a plan. Thanks
