I am unable to access some secure websites. I have contacted my isp and
tried all their suggestions, I have added the websites to the IE trusted
sites list, I have reset
security and privacy controls to default, I have disabled firewall, i have
delete cookies and files.... only suggestion left from ISP is to reinstall
IE. They sent a link to this microsoft site
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318378

However this article only offers direction for win xp or win xp sp1

Hello. Well Microsoft may not like this but you could also try a different
browser like Mozilla firefox. You can downl;oad it at www.mozilla.com. Some
sites I used with IE 7 Beta did not work so I used that.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 443.

Go to Start | Run and enter these commands (press <Enter after each one).

I very much doubt that reinstalling IE would address your problem, Emily.
(You didn't buy your computer or Windows from your ISP. Post here about
such problems instead. <wink>)

See Frank's reply first and then let us know how you make out.

You can contact Dell Support about restoring the machine to its OOBE
(original) state using the files on a hidden partition. (You can order the
disks from Dell, BTW.)

Why then am I able to access these pages with Mozilla's Firefox??????

I have turned OFF the firewall, and still have the same issues. There is no
error screen that pops up, no code.

Example: www.cingular.com I login to my account. No problem. I try to
navigate anywhere from that page and am redirected immediately to the login
screen.

My job requires entering my timesheet online. This website is only
supported by IE5.0 or higher, and Netscape navigator 6.2 and higher. When I
attempt to logon to the site, from this computer only, I am immediately
redirected to the login screen.

None of the suggestions frank offered work.

And appearantly, since I have not yet heard other wise. There is no way to
get IE SP2......

Hijackware (most likely the cause your problem) infects the Operating System
(Windows) and IE is a part of Windows. Firefox isn't. Again, I very much
doubt reinstalling IE would help with your problem.
I have turned OFF the firewall, and still have the same issues.

Turn it ON again immediately!

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
