IE 6 Critical Update Problem

R

Randy

After installing the KB824145 critical update patch,
IE now ignores my background color settings for
web pages! All it will display is a blinding white
background! My previous setting had an easy-on-the-eyes
gray background setting for all web pages.

I have removed the update to restore my settings.
This is a serious problem unless you are using a
welding mask while viewing web pages!

Hi Porter,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Microsoft is
aware, and has the
right people investigating this issue.

*function as before cumulative security update (q) kb824145. Settings
before and after Tools>Options>Colors(Text/Background)
with Use Windows colors disabled. Text set to "black" and
Background "gray". Accessibility before and after are
enabled ignore colors/ignore font styles with ignore font
sizes disabled. Same settings after update and reboot. But
after reboot/restart ie6, no longer able to get the
preferred black/gray or (or any color) since? Glaring
white and bewilderment as to what changed? Run the usual
Spybot (advanced)and Ad-aware 6.0 with a clean bill of
health........ Norton AV scan also clean.

Thank You

I am visually impaired and like to choose my own colours
to view web sites. I have never had any problems going to
accessibility and checking ignore web sites colours
A few days ago, the possibility of choosing my background
colour evaporated although I can still choose the text,
the visited and unvisited colours.
An excellent technician tried to find the cause of the
problem but after an hour had to admit defeat. He thinks
that it may be due to a gif file but is it and if so how
to find it?
A most odd problem that the technician had never seen
before.
