IE 6 Cache settings

when setting this to "automatically", does this mean that IE just downloads
the new content (pages, icons, etc.) and retains the same unchanged content
in temp cache? Basically, how does this setting work? Thanks in advance....

If you've selected "Automatically" and the the content hasn't changed, IE
doesn't download it from the website.
