IE 6 background color

All my webpage backgrounds appear white on my LCD monitor
despite monitor adjustments. "Use Windows Colors" is
checked in Tools|Internet Options|General|Colors.
Otherwise background colors in non-browser applications
appear normal, as expected.

When you attempt to view a Web page that has a background color or
background image, the background is not displayed and a white background is
displayed instead.
