IE 6 and IE 7 together?

Can I run both IE6 & IE7 on the same PC? If so, how? I want to be able to
check websites on both browsers? I've just installed IE7 and my IE6 seems to
be now gone! Please can anyone help/advise. Thanks

No can do. Install another instance of an OS on VPC and check that way? That
might do the trick for you.

My 2 cents ;-)

Nice! You'd think that I - well maybe not I but someone woulda mentioned it
to me by now - would have noticed that. I've been waiting for an easy way
for us to legally (or at least according to the EULA) wrap an OS up in VHD
and send it to an MVP, Microsoft, fellow newsgroup poster, etc for
testing/diagnostics. I've been a fan of VMware for a long time, VPC is
certainly coming up in the world and getting a lot better. Sound is
wonderful though I digress.

What really irks me is that you will see people running around in the
newsgroups, blogs, and forums telling people that - "Sure you can, just
________." And people believe it. *sighs*

I personally have a copy of ME installed in a VPC on my dev machine and
that's what I use for testing.

*coughs*

Err - that's almost a lie. I don't use it for testing - I use it for double
checking. Not Safari, not Firefox, not Internet Explorer, not even OffByOne
does as close a job as Opera does at rendering according to format. When it
renders properly in Opera that's when I know I did it right and it is
probably broken elsewhere so I have to go check the other two. I don't
optimize for Safari but I do check it to ensure it can at least be read
usually.

Anyhow, that's enough digression for now. :) I'm trying to behave today, it
being a holiday still in Redmond. Anyhow - thanks a bunch for the link(s)
and I'll likely leave the browser window open there so I can blog about it
tomorrow. Community Server have trackbacks enabled? If so you'll likely see
a ping via a WP blog tomorrow when I crawl out of bed.

Hah - never mind. That's Sandi's... I just noticed the URL. :) Well she'll
get a ping via WP then.

If you're running IE7 as you state, download and install IE6 standalone:

http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/standalone

Use the file "ie6eolas_nt.zip"

It's well tested.

Good luck.

Zee

Will test. If it works - thanks. I have skepticism though, the engine (even
if set to run alone) /should/ be pulled from the OS's files. SHOULD... If it
works, well, I'll be impressed. I know of a few differences I've seen with
CSS that I can test it on though I doubt I'll have time until Monday but
I'll queue it for download tonight.

Again, if it works, thanks a billion.

I can't wait to pass the link on after some testing. Thanks again. :)

I know quite a few users who will be VERY interested in it. Unfortunately
the holiday weekend has been pretty tough on these old bones so I've not had
much time to really delve into it other than downloading it which is a feat
in itself when you live as remotely as I do. Much thanks.

Oops has posted an interesting link which I'll test out this week. I'll
likely give that a bunch of tests starting later today or early tomorrow. I
like to poke stuff and try to break it before I go handing out links to it.
(Usually when I hand a link out to people it seems they then think I'm an
expert in said program/fix/information and so I have learned to limit myself
to only things I've tested.)

I don't suppose you've given it a try and have some feedback? I'd think it
nearly impossible to make it use anything but the updated engine. I'll have
to load up a process monitor and play with it first. Should be good fun.

Again, you're welcome, and I'll be listening to your comments after testing.
