If you want an opinion I would say stay wherever you
are. IE 6.0 has been nothing but a pain since I
installed Windows XP Home Edition and IE 6.0. I haven't
been able to display installed toolbars, even ones from
Microsoft, I receive the IE error message dozens of times
per day. I run Spy-bot and Ad-Aware frequently. Things
go OK for awhile then WHAM. You can't run some third-
party software like StopZilla and still open URLs in
emails, even Hotmail.

So I'd stay with whatever release of IE you are on until
they fix some of the problems.

Sure, kill the messenger.

Use a better browser... umm like Mozilla 1.6 that has tabbed browsing and
works properly with standards set by www.w3.org

Everyone that programs for the web has to put out extra effort to support
IE, thus if you visit sites that are selling something, they charge you more
to support all the trouble IE costs them.

For example, IE reports "png" and "jpeg" MIME types as "image/x-png" and
"image/pjpg" instead of the standard set by www.w3.org which are "image/png"
and "image/jpeg." That means that when you upload those files, programmers
must check for extra, "made-up" MIME types or check the actually extention
on the file.

Why did M$ do this? Because "png" and "jpeg" was an idea they could not buy
or steal from someone and claim it as their own idea (like they do with
everything else they brag about). So they are being disgruntle about it and
throwing standards right out the door. It has been this way since IE 4.0.
They know it and could of easily changed it to the standard.

M$ is just like a spoiled little rich kid tearing up his toys, so he doesn't
have to share them with the other kids.
