IE 6.0 won't launch

I am running Windows XP Home SP1 and IE 6.0. When I try to
launch IE it flashes in the task bar and closes instantly.

I have installed and removed all spyware with spybot.

I followed the steps in the Knowledge Base Article 318378
and reinstalled IE 6.0 sp1 and still the problem exists.

Any help on how to get IE 6.0 to work.

I am able to run Netscape 7.1 and AOL fine - so there is no
problem with my connection.
