IE 6.0 shuts down when loading certain pages

Hi:
I have IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158.
When I go to certain websites, it closes without any error messages. For
example, when I go to eBay.ca, it opens and I can buy stuff etc. However,
when I go to their sell page, I see the "page loading bar" at the bottom and
as soon as it completes loading, IE shuts down. Any idea why this happens on
certain web pages and how to work around this?
Your help will be much appreciated.

First eliminate any scumware.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Hi Frank:

I did exactly as per your reccommendation. Did updates and ran the
protection softwares. However, the problem of browser shutting down (without
any warning, error message) is still there. Another web site where it happens
is the log-on page for sympatico email.

Your feedback, help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm also experiencing this problem. However, I noticed that the websites that
cause the browswer to shut down all load an applet. If an applet is not
loaded, then I have no issues and can remain in the internet without
problems. Example: KingsOutdoorWorld.com loads the homepage fine, but as soon
as the applet Advnewscroll is started then my browser is shut down. I also am
getting Java related errors written to my desktop. They began the same day
that I downloaded Service Pack 2.

No problem here with SP2.

Java VM: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm#java2
Understand that because of a court decision Microsoft will stop all Java
support after 30 SEP 04 and is recommending that you use the Sun JRE.

I just found this support site after scrubing my system of all spyware and
still having browser shutdown when I get to the final button to sell on ebay!
Very frustrating and ebay doesn't have an answer beyond getting the spyware
out and dumping all cookies.

How did you scrub your system. One program isn't usually enough.
