IE 6.0 Performance slow

Can anyone help.....I have noticed IE 6.0 has been displaying pages at a
very slow rate. my download speed is 1.25mbps. I am running windows xp and
the latest version of IE. Dsl service. It used to be very fast but now its
acting like dial up.
