IE 6.0 goes to Yahoo if 'http://" is not added manually to address bar

Hey folks,
I have yet to find a fix for this one..nor have i seen it
before...

I have IE 6.0 with brand new service pack..
When I type in a URL it automatically links to Yahoo.com
UNLESS i type in the full 'http://'. this should work
just by typing in the blank.com part.. I have checked for
qhost viruses..checked 'search' options 'do NOT search
from address bar'..deleted hosts files...uninstalled and
reinstalled IE..edited registry ..ran adaware..the only
clue..perhaps..could be this software called 'internet
optimizer', and 'active update'..which I removed.
Nothing shows up when i run adaware..however
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Heather

Question: My CTRL+ENTER keys (which adds www.???.com to a word in the
address bar stopped working.
How do I get back this functionality?

Solution:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoCo
mplete]
"Append Completion"="no"
"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"

Changing "Append Completion" from "no" to "yes" will restore the function.
