IDEUtil SISIDE

I am still learning how to operate this computer.
I have a question, what is IDEUtil on my program
list of the start menu? When i go to it SISIDE
pops up next to it. I was curious one night and i
clicked on it and everything crashed on my computer.
I had a very hard time trying to get my computer to
run again. A screen popped up asking me if i wanted
to start windows normally, with the command prompt,
the last known good configuration or with or without
networking. I tryed all of them but nothing worked.
The only way i got my computer to work was by pressing
the reset button and power button in a timely manner.
Then i had to install java 2 RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT,
SE v1.4.2_01 for the computer to run. I would like
to try and stay away from anything connected with java.
Is this possible and what other choices do i have?

I believe the SiSIDE is some sort of utility that came with your
motherboard - read the manual that came with your computer. I can't
imagine why you'd want to stay away from Java, but in any case it is
not necessary to make your computer work. The best thing for you to do
is to 1) buy a book about running WinXP, something like "Windows XP For
Dummies". The "Dummies" series has an unfortunate name, but they are
really good books. 2) Learn to use Google to search out things on line.

It's a utility provided by the manufacturer of the motherboard
chipset, SiS. It tells you what devices are connected to the primary
and secondary IDE ports, and the devices' characteristics.
