Ideascan

Hello,

Can someone tell me if there is a difference between the old IBM
Ideascan scanner and the Ideascan 2000 ? I have an Ideascan on a Windows 98
system now, but will get a Win XP system in a few weeks. I need new Drivers
for the Scanner. There might be one on DriverGuide.com, but it is for the
Ideascan 2000, so the question.

I realize it is ancient technology, but it serves my purpose. I works
perfectly. It would be a shame to mothball it for lack of a driver.

Thank You for your input,

I am sure that they are not compatible.

IdeaScan Color Flatbed Scanner - Publications

The only driver available is for Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0

Very likely that it will not work in Windows XP. It is a parallel port
scanner, Windows XP does not support parallel port scanners.

Drivers:

It seems it is a parallel port 300 DPI scanner.
Antique technology. A USB scanner today for $100 will work circles around
this old scanner.

Thank You So Much for your reply CSM!,

I was hoping. I did realize IBM stopped supporting the scanner and no
new Driver from them were being developed. I was just hoping Drivers from
elsewhere might work. I did not know Windows XP did not support Parallel
Port Scanners. That kind of put a wrench in the gears. It is just that there
is nothing wrong with it at all. and I won't be able to use it. :-(

Well, You answered my question. You were quite generous with your reply. I
Do Thank You Again.

At least it did not rain to day :).
