ide showing up as scsi and no dma option

all of my ide drives are showing up as scsi devices in
device manager, I have the latest via chipset drivers for
my motherbaord and sp1 for windows xp. i am trying to
enable dma mode on my drives and can't do it!!

let me know if you need anymore info

This is because you are using third party (VIA) drivers. These are seen
by the system as a different type of device, and it lumps all such
together as SCSI. The drivers are almost certainly assuming that if the
hardware is capable of DMA then you want to use it
