IDE recognised as scsi by xp professional

Hi all
I am using a Gigabyte m/board which has a promise
raid/ata chip. I have this configured for ATA, so it
gives me two extra IDE connectors.

Using XP Home everything is fine.

However I recently did a clean install of XP
Professional, and now I can't access the drives. Prof.
correctly recognises the chip (as an IDE interface), and
is using the correct driver. But it recognises any drives
attached as SCSI drives, and as such I can't gain
access. I can't find any way of correcting this. Only
thing I can think of is to do a clean install of Home,
then upgrade to Prof, but I really don't want to do
that.....

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Dave

Any system using raid is recognized as a SCSI system , no
big deal. It's not using the unboard IDE channel. Don't
understand what you mean can't access them. Do you have
the PDF for the board setup ??

The chip can be configured as Raid or ATA in the Bios
(currently ATA). In ATA mode this gives four IDE sockets
on the motherboard. XP Home correctly identified the
drives attatched and they could be used. XP Prof does
not. Under disk management, only one shows. That one is
shown as foreign, and cannot be imported. The other does
not show at all. Device Manager shows both, as SCSI, says
both are working correctly. My Computer shows one (same
as disk mgmt) but says not accessible due to I/O error.

Ok, What about in device manager, mine in home show to be
connected to a SCSI adapter, If fact I have the IDE
disabled. Both drives show up as SCSI disk drives , even
though they are ATA drives.
