IDE DVD ROM and Hard Drive no longer detected

I've had Window's Vista Ultimate 64-bit for about a year now and things have
been fine so far. However, today, none of my IDE drives are detected in
Vista. Neither the CD/DVD Rom or IDE Hard Drive are detected. They have just
disappeared. They do not show up in the Device Manager or anywhere else. I
have Window's XP Pro installed as a Dual-Boot backup just in case. XP see's
the drives just fine as well as the BIOS, but for some reason Vista will not.
I've tried a system restore and reinstalling the motherboard driver's but
have had no success. Any other thoughts?

Try disconnecting one of the drives and see if either is recognized. You
might want to try a different IDE cable too..
