IDE CD drives changing to SCSI drives

G

Grendal

My IDE drives are appearing in my XP system as SCSI
drives.

They had been working fine until a couple of weeks ago
and when I checked the hardware profiles I could see they
had been changed to SCSI drives.

I have tried reinstalling the drives (disconnecting from
the motherboard) and deleting drivers but every time XP
brings them back up as SCSI drives? They are connected as
IDE drives in the BIOS. I can read from the drives but
cannot write with the CDR and the DVD drive will not play
DVD discs correctly.

Any ideas or help?

Not much to work with in your email... best guess is that you installed a
new driver for your MB/IDE setup some of which change the drives from IDE to
SCSI in name-sake any way.

Some of them - like the ATAPI VIA driver - are notorious for causing
problems with non-HDs!

If it were me I would remove the new drivers (if possible) and revert to the
standard XP drivers. Otherwise, based on the info you provided ???

Good Luck,
Len
