ICS on Win2000 in a DHCP domain

Brian Morris

Hello,
I want to enable ICS on one of my Win2000 workstations rather than on the
server. Our server also does DHCP so all the workstations are set for
automatic IP addresses. When I turn on ICS on the workstation it sets the
IP address to 192.168.0.1 but then I can no longer see our network. Our
server has the followingf settings IP192.168.100.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1

Is there a way to make this work
Thanks
Brian

ICS is incompatible with other DHCP servers existing
on a network.

ICS becomes a DHCP server automatically and chooses
the address without allowing configuration; there is no
supported way to coordinate the different ranges or
overlapping ranges of address between ICS and other
DHCP servers.

Use Server w/NAT or an appliance that allows configuration.
Or disable the internal DHCP if you have no need of the
configurable options or ranges -- different from what ICS
offers.

Hi Brian,

You cannot run ICS and another DHCP server on the same subnet. ICS runs a
DHCP allocator service that will cause conflicts with the DHCP server. You
can either use a server with RRAS/NAT or turn DHCP off on your server.
