ics not working

I a sharing my DSL internet connecion from windows xp
professional, it worked fine on the windows me machine
until I had to re-install win xp. Now the ME pc can't use
the internet. I have tried all the steps in the ics
trouble shooter but it still won't work.

Also the windows xp machine can't see the windows me one
on the network, but theme one can see both itself and the
xp in the my network places folder.

I posted this in the windows ME forum but got no response.

can you ping each other by ip? if yes, can you ping them by name? make sure
no firewall running on the LAN connection and you have enabled netbios over
tcp/ip.
