i am using ics with a adsl modem on 2 computers
the client can access the internet, msn as can the sever.
the server shows both computer in network but says no
permissions to the workgroup when trying to access the
client computer.
client computer only shows itself in network connections.
i have uninstalled/reinstalled ics on both.
was working before i formatted the client.
i am admin on both, no passwords.
i have renamed computers,workgroups,
both lans are working
server 192.168.0.1
client 192.168.0.xxx gateway 192.168.0.1

seems to be a permission issue.

Hi Phill,

There are 3 things for permission that you must be aware of in windows xp.

1. If you use blank passwords you must disable this policy in "Local
security policy" (on both computers)
--> Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console...

2. Simple file sharing (Windows Explorer \ Tools \ Folder Options \ View)
should be disabled, because this forces guest account to logon to network
share.

3. If A Guest Account is disabled (default is) than simple file sharing must
be disbaled to. Otherwise enable guest account.

thnks bro
tryed all that but still no permissions

I had a similar problem that was solved by adding a
passwaord to the administrator accounts, turning the
firewall off and logging in as any user with a password.
Hope that helps
Stuart
