ICS networking at Home and Work with Two Laptops

Andor J Kiss

Hi,

I have two WinXP laptop machines. Sometimes I use them at home,
sometimes at work. I want to able to share an internet connection when at
home, BUT still be able to use the LAN when I got to work.

Running the network wizard for ICS allows the "home" network to work, but
then the machines don't have network access at work on the LAN.

What is the "Alternate IP configuration"? should I be using this?

Thanks,
Andor

The "Alternate IP configuration" lets you define a static IP address
for use on networks that don't have a DHCP server.

Whether you should use it depends on how the LAN is set up at work.
Consult with the network administrator.
