ICS CHECKBOX IS MISSING

hey,

when i goto into network connections and click wireless network (connected threw wireless router) and goto advanced tab it only has the windows xp firewall checkbox and the "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" checkbox isnt there... under my lan conenction advanced tab it shows up but not my wireless connection..

anyone know why?

I don't know the absolute answer, but....

Maybe Windows is being a little smarter than you? If you have a
router, wireless OR wired, it knows that you don't need to use one box
as a host for all the others. The router accomplishes that function,
providing the gateway to your modem and IP addresses for each computer
connected to it. There is no need to use ICS in this setup.

Hi,

This depends on the factors listed below coined by S. Winograd. They can be
easily tested:

The ICS option only appears when all of these are true:

1. There are two enabled, connected network connections: one for the
Internet, and one for the LAN.

2. The Internet Connection Firewall is disabled on the LAN connection.

3. The Internet connection isn't bridged.

I suspect that your LAN connection is firewalled.
