Icons, wallpapers...

Bilko

Hi,

I noticed the following problems a week ago and i still
could'nt find a solution.

1. i can't make the background of the icons text
transparent. (shadows are used and icons are not locked
on the desktop)

2. i can't select a jpg file as wallpaper via the sisplay
properties (for that, i have to go to the folder where my
picture is and choose to set it as wallpaper. But when i
do this, i can't access to the desktop tab in display
properties. i sometimes get a rundll32.exe error message
when i try to click this tab. If i want to access this
tab again, i have to change back to the original windows
XP theme)

I think the 2 problems are linked, but... i'm really
stuck on this.

Is there someone who knows what to do to fix this?

Thank you.

Thank you Kelly, but Active desktop is enabled. I can set
a web page as wallpaper.
Though, i used your script to disable it and enable it
again, but still no change.

Most welcome. If you have any third party desktop managers running either
disable or remove. Either way see if this edit helps: It has a couple of
more settings that may help.

Argh, still doesn't work.

I did install a third party manager to see if it wouldn't
fix it, but it encounters the same problems with the
icons and the wallpapers, so i uninstalled it.

I did a clean install of Windows 2 months ago, when i
ugraded my PC. I've reinstalled only programs that i was
using before without problems. The only new things are
some secutity patches, Flight simulators addons and
Musicmatch Juke box. I will try uninstalling them and see
what happens.

No change, of course.

Last solution, format c and new install... It will be a
nice week end...
