I am finding that the icons under Games, Computer, Network, Control Panel
often change their viewing size for no apparent reason. Please let me know
what may be causing this and what I can do to ensure the icons don't resize
unless I change them.

I think this is a similar problem to the problem with windows not
remembering their dimensions. It also happens to me and is very annoying
but there doesn't seem to be a fix-all solution out there. You can try
resetting all window settings (which is explained in a thread titled "Fixed
the Folder View memory problem" on June 15) but this hasn't helped in my
situation.

I don't know about your situation but for me the Control Panel is the worst
culprit of all. I keep setting it to Large Icons and then sometime later it
goes to Small Icons or something else. Network does a similar thing.

I hope this is fixed in SP1.

The icon cache may have become corrupted.

Go to C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local and delete the following: IconCache.db

Reboot. The system will begin building up the icon cache again.

Personally Richard I don't think it's a caching issue as the icons
themselves are the correct icons and are rendered correctly (at least in my
case) - they are just the wrong size. I think it's more likely to be a
manifestation of the known issue with window settings including dimensions
and view not being remembered properly in all cases. I am not saying your
suggestion won't work (it's certainly worth a try) but I feel that the
problem can't be solved just yet.

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I've gone with brink's referral.

If your experience is the same as mine, it will work - but only for a while.
Oh well, good luck!
