icons not showing the "e" logo

My HTML file icons, usually viewed in IE6, have suddenly lost the IE
"e" logo. They are now showing the logo which is not attached to any
particular program...you know...the sort of thing that would happen to
a Word file if Word was not installed.

How do I get the correct icons back?

Windows Explorer\Tools\Folder Options\File Types and scroll down to HTML. Highlight it and select change and when the dialogue box comes up select Internet Explorer

Followed these instructions exactly...but it made no difference.
