Icons disappear

I recently ran the XP SP2 update a computer at work and have noticed an odd
thing happening since then. The screen resolution is 1280 X 1024 and the DPI
is set at 136% of normal size. The icons are spread out all over the screen.
If the user places an icon within about 1 inch from the right edge of the
screen, it will disappear! You then have to arrange the icons by name to see
the missing icon(s) and then manually rearrange them again. What is going on
here???

Perhaps, if you disable "Align to Grid", they won't jump off-screen to
the next column on the right.
