I have three computers all running xp. All run through
a linksys router to the isp and that is working perfectly
for all three. The problem is that one desktop and the
laptop see each other and communicate fine, the third, a
Dell desktop running xp pro shows in the network
neighborhood of these computers but cannot be accessed.
This Dell desktop shows all three computers in the
network neighborhood, but access is denied when I try to
access either of the other two. This network has worked
intermitently more off than on for the last several
days. Then i get the "'do not have permission" message
again. The networking wizard will not complete, i get a
crash with a spooling error message everytime I try to
run it. Hope someone can help. Thanks
.
I have the same problem. I have 2 computers both
running xp pro. cpu1 allows other computers on the
network to access its printers and shared folders but
cpu2 does not allow access and asks for a passwork.
other then that my lan works correctly with my linksys
router. Before this configuration i was using cpu2 as
the direct comunication to the internat and having the
other computers connect to the internet though that one.
I am wondering if that could be part of the problem but
cant find anyone else with the same problem.

Any chance you were using winproxy? I just found out thta this was my problem. I deleted all of winproxy and now everything is ok.
