icon spacing won't change

Hi,

I've been tweaking my desktop icon spacing, and now, no matter how high I
set the horizontal and vertical spacing, the icons do not budge 1 pixel.
They are currently all left aligned in the screen and are partially
overlapping each other. Does anyone know what the heck could be going on?

Bugged me too. But, if you switch users or log out it'll display correctly
when you come back.
