I installed SP2 on Wednesday and since then all my icons
have the ".lnk" suffix and won't work; they all have the
DOS icon. Everytime I boot up it's the same old ritual.
To put things right (I thought) I uninstalled SP2 and
then tried reinstalling it again. This time it got stuck
when it said "Windows cannot open this file: regsvr.exe"
I showed it were it was but (presumably because of the
DOS icon) it refused to recognise it so in the end I had
to abandon part way through the installation. Now I've no
idea what version I'm using!
I can use some files but mostly MS system type files are
lost to me. I feel this is something to do with the
registry but I don't know what. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
