Icon problem solved, but I have another one.

I solved my problem with the desktop icons reverting the
their default settings by uninstalling my new video
drivers and using an older version, but I have something
else plaguing me. On startup, I get the Explorer bar,
desktop background, and cursor, but my system hangs for a
minite or two before completing the startup sequence. I
have no viruses or spyware to account for this. can
anyone help?

Hi, Bruce.

Sounds like something is still loading. Once desktop is up, XP will load any
programmes you have configured in Startup. Go to Start/Run and type in
msconfig and look under Startup to see if there is anything you can disable.
You can also right click the taskbar and select Task Manager and look under
Processes to if there is anything there.
