You should probably try a Windows Media Player newsgroup.
Open Windows Media Player | Tools | Options |
File Types tab | Click the Select All button |
Click Apply | Click OK
Select All
[[Click to select all the file types in the File types list.]]
[[If you install other multimedia playback programs on your computer,
they may interfere with your Player file types settings. For more
information about setting file type ownership in other multimedia
playback programs, see the documentation that came with those programs.
]]
[[If you want to make another player the default player for a specific
file type, clear the check box for it in the File types list. ]]
[[If a selected check box is dimmed, Windows Media Player has only
partial ownership of the file type. Multiple file extensions are
assigned to the file type, but the Player only plays some of those
extensions by default. To give the Player full ownership of a file type,
double-click the dimmed check box. ]]

Thanks for helping. When I right click the desktop icon, only
“open†(not “open withâ€Â) appears. Clicking open
brings up Realplayer. It does not give me the choice of selecting
windows media player.
:
Right click a file, point to Open With and then click Choose Program.

In Gerhard <
[email protected]> hunted and pecked:
When I click on a specific desktop icon, it opens the Realplayer.
Nothing happens, because its rtsp://video.rfn.ru/rtr-planeta/video
plays only in Windows Media Player.
How can I change the icon, so that it automatically opens with windows
media player?
Thanks in advance, Gerhard
