Icon location

When using the tabbed browser with the MSN toolbar there is a small icon
that appears next to the <Head> title on the Tab. This is the same icon that
shows up if you add the URL to your favorites list.

Where does this icon come from? My website shows a evil netscape icon.
How do I change it to the default IE icon, or better yet one of my own.

If you already have a favorite short cut it won't show up until you delete the favorite, close IE, Re Open IE and create a new
favorite

|I thought sometime ago I would put an icon on my site.
|
| I have done everythng recommended by MSN, but it only shows up in Firefox,
| not in IE6
|
| Could the format be incorrect, i.e. named favicon.ico but not in *.ico
| format
|
| Any other ideas what may be wrong ?

Thanks, SBR
Part of my problem is that the icon doesn't show up on the address bar in IE
but it does in Firefox
To get it to show in Favorites I will do as suggested, but this may make no
difference as IE6 doesn't seem to recognise it.

Steve,
How do I know if a file is of type .ico? The file favicon.ico displays in
Windows Explorer as an .ico file. I made it in some editor - I forget
which - and saved it with extension .ico. Maybe I could try again using
IrfanView to save

favico .ico is on my website on the root directory if you can tell anything
by opening it. I just tried this and it opened O.K. in IE6, although on my
local disk, the system tried to open it wth Windows and Fax viewer and
failed (as it did with another - presumably genuine - .ico file)
