Icon Grayed or not Showing on IE Toolbar

The icon for FrontPage 2002 is sometimes (often) grayed
out (not working) or not showing (replaced by Notepad
icon) on the Win XP Home IE 6.0 toolbar.

I ran Repair but that seems to make no difference.

I can launch FrontPage 2002 Programs menu and then
successfully open web pages with FrontPage 2002.

1. Make sure FrontPage is set as the default HTML editor
in IE Tools > Internet Options > Programs.
2.. Realize that this is not a good way to open and
edit pages, because it does not open the web for editing,
only the page.

1. Yes, FrontPage is set as the default HTML editor

2.Often I only need to open the page for editing and
don't need to open the web.

Try the cleanup procedures.
Find and delete all *.web files
Find and delete all *.tmp files
Delete the Temporary Internet,
cookie and history files.
