i want to use my treo 700w with business contact manager

i'm wondering whether we should start using Business Contact Manager or
whether we should buy the new version of ACT from Sagebrush. We've been
using ACT but we just got a bunch of Treo 700w's and if BCM worked easily
with the Treo, it might be a good reason for switching.

There is a free download from Microsoft available for BCM that will
synchronize the Business Contact folder records with Windows Mobile. This
works outside of and in addition to your native Outlook Contact folder
records. (Don't confuse the two) The bad news is that this BCM synch
feature is not yet supported with the latest Windows version 5.0 that the new
Treo 700w runs on. Your Treo will currently synch only to the native Outlook
Contacts folder and not to BCM. I am not sure if the newest release of ACT 8.
0 (2006) has a link for Pocket PC yet or not. If it does exist, be sure to
verify if it is compliant with the latest Windows 5.0 devices. There is
another 3rd party vendor product option at www.chapura.com that does an
excellent job of synching. Check out the Windows Mobile tab. I don't think
that Chapura's product supports Windows Mobile 5.0 yet either.

Hi

The option of synch Windows Mobile 5.0 is being actively considered for the
upcoming version of BCM so you decide

So that no one gets excited with too much hope I will translate in a way that
helps you decide. "Being actively considered for the upcoming version" will
likely mean still not until the late summer months! Until then, an untold
multitude of current real world users needs are S.O.L. while Microsoft takes
it sweet old time in a vacuum trying to decide what to do.

I don't understand just what it is that needs to be considered here.
Adapting BCM to support the newest Windows v 5.0 seems like a no-brainer to
me. If I were in charge the directive would be decisive and clear ... Let's
get this thing done and out into the hands of our user base ASAP.

I use a PPC-6700 (as a new replacement for a Treo 600) and BCM. I bought the
PPC because I "believed" that the BCM update would work better with MS than
Palm. I WAS WRONG. It doesn't work at all! I can still take the PPC back and
use my older Treo. It's time for me to give Outlook the boot too. Too bad.
The was a lot of promise lost on this deal.

First: I agree with the statements that Microsoft should includes this as
standard. It seems ridiculous that this hasn't already been resolved for both
BCM ad the Mobile 5.0 products.

Second: It looks as though Chapura is planning support for Mobile 5.0 soon,
no details.

We are presently looking inot Office Live for our web hosting and some of
the other features. There seems to be good integration with BCM and hopefully
the BCM to Windows Mobile 5.0 happens sooner rather than later.

You are kidding right - about the good integration of BCM and Office Live?!?!
The contacts can be synch'd between the two, but Accounts can not and that
is important feature in BCM. Also, projects and tasks of BCMM is not
integrated with Office Live either. Also, keep in mind the integration with
Accounting 2007, where is the accounting applicaiton in Office LIve. This is
frustrating. Office Live should be able to eschange Accounts, Projecyts,
tasks with BCM.

Just my two cents.
