Did the upgrade media come with your computer?

Many computers do not come with media and if media is desired, you need to
follow the procedures set by the computer manufacturer to make or order.
Check your manual and/or contact the manufacturer for details.

JUPITER well this upgrade came with my other computer, and well i tried to
put it in my old computer and it told me i had 72 hours to put the product
key and the 3 days later it shut down and now it ask me for th eproduct key
which i dont have.

If it came with the other computer, it is probably only for that computer.
The Product Key should be on the package the DVD came in.
If there is no key, contact the seller.

Indira: You screwed yourself by trying to pirate the Vista copy into your old computer.
Now you will most likely have to contact the manufacturer of your old computer and see if you can
buy a set of XP restore disks and restore XP to the old computer. Expect most of your personal
files and data to be gone when done.

It never ceases to amaze me that folks who don't know what they're doing,
try to do it anyway. To quote B. Franklin: "Experience is a good teacher,
but fools will learn no other way." (I'm not calling you a fool... that's
what the quote says... but one would think one would "do" due
diligence -prior- to engaging in such an endeavor. Guess not.)

Since you can't determine your Vista key, regardless of whether it's ethical
to install the same CD on two computers, which of course, it's not, and you
don't have an XP CD with which you can downlevel that PC, I must assume that
your only option at present is to either purchase a Vista key from MS or
purchase an XP retail CD. Or... get an XP CD from the vendor of your "old
computer."

I apologize if that comes off as harsh. Sorry 'bout that.

Reload your old machine from your backups.
You did make backups before you attempted the upgrade?

As for the key, have you checked the exterior of the machine for a label
with the key on?

Your old PC came with XP pre-installed?
Are you sure that you ever had a CD for it?

For several years now, a lot of cheap PCs
have been loaded with a hidden partition
holding a disk image of the system. In those
cases there's no CD at all. If you have a PC like
that there's a good chance that you image is
still there. You'd only have to find out the
method to get it back. (Manual? Online search?)
Typically the recovery method involves something
like holding down a key like F8 while booting.
