I want to lock the Desktop icons into permanent positions.

Sometimes, (like adjusting the screen resolution
etc) all the desktop icons are scrambled.

There seems to be no way to lock them into a
definite location on the desktop.

Adjust their locations at the lowest resolution you use and then DON'T
move them.
