I want to change 'folder.jpg' to something else

I've found that if you name a file 'folder.jpg', it will automatically become
the thumbnail for that folder. However, I'd like to know a way to change my
computer's settings (the registry or otherwise) so that naming a file
'cover.jpg' will be the default thumbnail for the folder. I would just
individually make each folder have its own appropriate thumbnail through the
Folder Properties dialog but XP is very screwy when it comes to that and it
ends up juggling my thumbnails from folder to folder.

So basically, I want to know how to change my computer's settings from
having 'folder.jpg' be the default to having any filename (preferably
'cover.jpg') be the default. Or somehow have different default thumbnail
filenames for different types of folders. (Like 'artist.jpg' or 'Led
Zeppelin.jpg' for that artist folder and 'cover.jpg' for each of the album
folders in it.) Please let me know if you have any solutions...I know there's
gotta be a way to change that setting.

As far as I know you have two choices; Folder.jpg or Folder.gif

Tip from TweakUI:
[[If you create a file called Folder.jpg, that image will be used as the
thumbnail for the folder. What's more, that image will also be used as the
album art in Windows Media Player for all media files in that folder.]]

[[Manually create a folder picture
To manually customize the folder picture that the Thumbnails view uses, put
a Graphics Interchange Format (.gif) image file in the folder with a file
name of Folder.gif. You can use any graphic editing program to create the
..gif image. To use the Microsoft Paint program that is included with Windows
XP, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs (or Programs), point to Accessories,
and then click Paint.
2. To open an existing image, follow these steps:
a. On the File menu, click Open.
b. Locate the folder that contains the image that you want to use. Paint
can open images files with a .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe,
.jfif, .tif, .tiff, .png, or .ico file name extension.
c. Select the image that you want to use, and then click Open.

3. Use the tools in Paint to modify the image (if you want to modify it).
4. Save the image after you modify the image. To do so, on the File menu,
click Save as.
5. In the Save as type box, select GIF (*.GIF).
6. For the file name, type:

Folder.gif

7. Locate the folder that you want to customize, and then click Save.

When you view the folder in Thumbnails view in Windows Explorer, the folder
now has the custom image that you created, unless you use the Customize tab
of the folder's Properties dialog box to select a folder picture. The folder
picture that is specified on the Customize tab overrides the manual
Folder.gif customization. ]]
