I want to automatically add contacts to my addressbook

G

Guest

Outlook 2000 SP-3 on Windows XP Pro.
I went to "Tools:Options:Email Options" and then checked the box
"automatically add contacts to my addressbook." However, even though I have
"Contacts" as the chosen folder, it is greyed out and the addresses are not
being added.

No version of Outlook has such an option. State your mail support mode.
Describe the option you are selecting more accurately.

Sorry, Russ. The path is "Tools:Options:preferences:Email Options".

I am using "internet only". Is that the "mail support mode"?

Thanks for you help!

There still is no such option.
Do you mean automatically add recipients?

When I reply to an email, I want that email address to appear in my Contact
folder so my spamblocker will let it through next time.

So what's the question? The option you select is "Automatically put people I
reply to in <folder>"

I saw your original question and there is no such option as the one you
describe therein. That's why I asked you to clarify your post. Confirm
what option you are trying to select and that we are even talking about
the same program.

As I recall (and its been years since I've seen IMO) the option to add
recipients lists a folder in the dropdown box that is greyed out. But
the Browse button still works and allows you to select an alternate
folder as the destination. The option only works if the folder you've
selected is enabled as an email address book.
Again, this option is only to add recipients of messages you send, not
the senders of messages you receive and not "Contacts" as your post
implied.
