I am already using Heading 1, 2 and 3, but need a Heading 4 as sub-points to
Heading 3.

As Graham points out, Word includes built-in styles for headings up to
Heading 9, but by default only Headings 1-3 are displayed in the Styles
dropdown or Styles & Formatting task pane or Style pane. How you display
additional styles will depend on what version of Word you are using.

In Word 97-2003, you can type in Heading 4 in the Styles box on the
Formatting toolbar.

In Word 2007, you can type in Heading 4 in the Apply Styles pane (which can
be displayed by pressing Ctrl+Shift+S).

If you are trying to set up a numbered outline, see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html.

The same article might be helpful even if you are using Word 2007, but many
steps on the way are different. For example, you can no longer create
outline/multilevel numbering via the Modify Style dialog box. Instead, you
have to place the insertion point in a level 1 paragraph (which means Heading
1 in the case of heading numbering); then click Home tab | Multilevel List |
Define New Multilevel List.
