I want to add a 2003 server to a 2000\NT mixed domain as a DC

I have 2 new servers that came in with 2003 server and want to add one of
them as a DC in the network. do I have to run /forestprep /domain prep? will
this effect the exchange2k server and entries? I read an article that said i
could just run dcpromo and another that said to use the 2003 upgrade path,
not sure which route is best.

Thanks

if you have NT4 DCs and W2K DCs and E2K you basically should:
* apply the InetOrgPerson fix to PREVENT mangled attributes
* ADPREP /FORESTPREP
* ADPREP /DOMAINPREP /GPPREP (if you are using w2k3 SP1)
* ADPREP /DOMAINPREP (if you are using w2k3)

after that you can introduce w2k3 DCs

another thing....

If you already have w2k/wxp/w2k3 clients and servers and you did not use the
NT4Emulator registry key on AD DCs those clients and servers will never use
the NT4 DCs. If you don't have legacy clients and servers (w95/w95/WNT4) you
might as well remove the NT4 DCs if that is possible (no apps running on
them, etc.)
